Steak Houses In Portland Oregon

Portland, Oregon, is home to many excellent steakhouses.

Portland is a city of more than 2 million people in the foothills of the northwest Oregon mountains. Over the years Portland has risen from a moderate-sized mountain city to a sprawling metropolis, offering the kind of dining and entertainment you would expect from any major US city. As such, Portland is home to some of the finer restaurants on the west coast, including a plethora of excellent local steakhouses.

Ringside Steakhouse

Ringside is a Portland institution, first opened in 1944 and owned by the same family ever since. It is a true steakhouse in style and atmosphere, offering dark wood interiors and towering stone fireplaces. The overall experience is one of relaxed yet upscale dining, and the steaks have won countless awards over the years. The beef is top-quality, aged Angus from the midwest. As with any top-rated steak house, the wine list is extremely extensive, including more than 700 labels. A large dinner menu offers plenty of choices in sides, salads and other grilled items such as chops and chicken but the main focus at Ringside is the award-winning cuts of beef. All the steak options are hand-cut, grilled and then served with a flavorful butter glaze sauce. All the common cuts are offered in a variety of sizes, as well as filets of extra-tender well-marbled Kobe beef. Larger parties that are seeking some privacy will also want to check out the closed-off private dining room.

Sayler's Old Country Kitchen

Sayler's is a unique restaurant and steak house in the heart of Portland. From the signage out front to the décor inside, Sayler's strives to evoke a family-friendly, low-key atmosphere similar to what you'd get with a family dinner at home. Far less upscale in appearance than other local steak houses, Sayler's is still well-regarded for the quality of its aged beef offerings. Furthermore, several sizies are available for each cut of beef. All popular cuts are represented, including porterhouses that can top two pounds and filet mignons in four different sizes. For the truly daring, a 72-ounce top sirloin is available to test your hunger. Being a family-style establishment, Sayler's offers giant portions of all its popular sides, so you can plan on sharing with the table as you pass around the dishes. Prices, especially for the higher-quality cuts of beef, tend to skew more toward higher-end steak houses. This can surprise some given the incredibly laid-back nature of the steak house, but the quality of the steak warrants the cost.

Portland City Grill

The Portland City Grill has long been one of the city's most popular and trendy restaurants. Located at the top of a high-rise in the center of Portland's nightlife and dining district, the grill offers excellent views of the city and a great atmosphere to enjoy one of its award-winning steaks. Portland City Grill recommends potential diners make reservations far in advance of their visit. While you wait for your table a full bar is available, as well as an extensive drink list. Dinner itself revolves around the grill's excellent steak options. All the popular cuts are provided and cooked to order, with each steak coming in a choice of béarnaise sauce toppings that range from a blue cheese glaze to a brandy steak sauce. These sauces each have their own unique flavor and have helped make the steaks at Portland City Grill one of the more popular steak meals in the city. Non-steak eaters will also find something to enjoy, as an extensive seafood menu is also featured, oftentimes with specials that pair fresh seafood with a smaller cut of the more popular steak options.
