Oils For Frizzy Hair

Olive oil can be used as a hot oil treatment for frizzy hair.

Most people deal with a bout of frizzy hair at one time or another. In some cases, hair becomes frizzy as a result of weather conditions, but more often than not, frizzy hair results from a lack of moisture in the hair. Most individuals who are prone to frizz do not have enough natural oils in their hair to combat the problem. Fortunately, there are several oils that may be used as hair treatments that combat frizz by restoring the hair's proper moisture balance. These oils work especially well on dry, damaged hair that has problems with frizz. Does this Spark an idea?

Olive Oil

Frizzy hair can benefit from olive oil treatments because olive oil is rich in omega fatty acids, which help nourish the hair. Olive oil can also help strengthen hair, so it is more resistant to breakage and spilt ends. It also helps improve hair's elasticity, making dry hair less likely to kink and become frizzy. Olive oil can be used as a hot oil treatment by warming it in a microwave for up to a minute, so the oil can penetrate the hair shaft more easily. Be careful when handling the oil because it may be very hot. Work the warm oil through your hair in the bathtub or shower and use a comb to make sure that it is evenly distributed from roots to ends. Let it sit on the hair under a shower cap or towel for approximately 30 minutes. then rinse and shampoo your hair as usual. It may take two shampooings to remove all of the oil from your hair.

Jojoba Oil

Jojoba oil is used in many hair and skin products because it closely mimics the human sebum found in the skin and scalp. As a result, it is a very effective moisturizer for dry, damaged hair that is lacking in natural oils. Many individuals with frizzy hair use it as a pre-styling treatment because it helps smooth and detangle hair, making it less likely to break or spilt while brushed. Jojoba oil is also used to massage the scalp so hair is moisturized from the roots to the ends.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil can be an effective treatment for frizzy hair because it contains many nutrients that help promote hair strength and health, such as calcium, iron, magnesium and potassium. Its light texture allows it to easily penetrate the hair shaft and moisturize dry, damaged hair. Many individuals with frizzy hair use coconut oil as a hot oil treatment by massaging it through the hair. Then pile the hair on top of the head and wrap a hot towel around it for at least 30 minutes. This helps the coconut oil penetrate deeper into the hair shaft so it can help strengthen the inner structure of the hair.

Avocado Oil

Avocado oil is rich in vitamin E and fatty acids, so it can help control frizzy hair by providing important strengthening nutrients to the hair follicles. It is also extremely rich, so it moisturizes hair well and is especially effective in treating severely dry or damaged hair that is prone to frizz. Many people with frizzy hair use avocado oil as a deep conditioner after shampooing by leaving it on the hair for 20 to 30 minutes. It may also be added to a hair mask for extra moisture.
