Tea tree oil, an essential oil that has been distilled from the leaves of the melaleuca alternifolia plant in Australia, comes with dozens of health benefits. As with all essential oils, which can be very potent, tea tree oil should be mixed and diluted with other ingredients such as water, carrier oils and personal care products like shampoo and face wash. By mixing a few drops of tea tree oil to these products you are gaining an all-natural remedy for cuts, burns, scrapes and other ailments. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Dilute your tea tree oil with a carrier oil by using one part tea tree oil to four parts carrier oil, such as olive, coconut or avocado oil. This can be used for athlete's foot and other fungus conditions. For instance, mix one tablespoon of tea tree oil with four tablespoons of olive oil for a foot fungus treatment.

2. Add one tablespoon of tea tree oil to two tablespoons of vegetable glycerin to a clean, empty plastic bottle, cap it and shake well. Remove the cap and add one tablespoon of water. Replace the cap and shake well again. This makes an aftershave that will double as a skin treatment.

3. Add one tablespoon of tea tree oil to your bath water to relieve skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema.

4. Add ten drops of tea tree oil to an eight ounce bottle of shampoo and shake the bottle gently to treat dandruff and dry scalp.

5. Add two or three drops of tea tree oil to your face wash and shake well for a treatment for dry skin and acne.
