Find Wholesalers
There are hundreds and thousands of wholesale companies offering different products such as jewelry, shoes, clothing and electronics. There are also many ways you can go about finding a wholesaler that will do business with you. However, when it comes to actually finding the wholesalers, things can start to become rather difficult. Many suppliers will refuse to reveal the wholesale companies they do business with as they don't want competition.
Instructions
1. Buy a list including the name and contact information of wholesale companies. There are sites that sell these lists, but make sure you are careful you aren't investing in a list that is primarily out of business wholesalers. World Wide Brands is one company that provides a list of wholesale companies and they are certified by eBay.
2. Look in your local phone book. Many areas have wholesale companies that are local. These can be packaging companies that sell some of the merchandise once it has been in the warehouse for too long.
3. Look through one of the many online phone books. If you can't find local information or you're searching for something other than a local wholesaler, then go online for contact information of a wholesale company that is located in another city.
4. Read the packaging of the items you are hoping to buy at wholesale to resell. The packaging will say "Distributed by" or "Manufactured by" on them. You can use this to begin a search on google for the wholesaler or contact the manufacturer to see if they sell wholesale.
5. Check the back of magazines in the classified section. Wholesale companies have been known to list their services in these sections. However, the prices you may pay could be a bit higher than you are willing to fork out.
6. Check your local library. There are reference books in business and trade that will list potential suppliers and wholesalers across the country and the world.
7. Visit a variety of Trade Shows. Here you will find many distributors with contacts or direct manufacturers that do wholesale their merchandise. Trade shows are often limited to business owners only, so be prepared to present a tax id number or a business license. It's always best to call ahead of time to find out what is needed.
8. Join groups and network with other professionals. You may find you connect with someone willing to reveal some of the companies they have used or are currently using. If you two are not in competing areas then they are more willing to help you out or lend a hand with offering more information.
