Create Black Skin Care Products With Household Products

Though it may look tougher than light skin, black skin is actually extremely sensitive to the different types of skin-care treatments and products that are available. Black skin has more melanin, which protects it from sunlight, but it's also more prone to side effects like hyperpigmentation and pock marks. It can also be extremely dry and moisture-starved. You can create safe, natural products to treat sensitive black or dark skin using everyday products you can find around the house or purchase from a grocery store. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Make a cucumber skin mask specifically for sensitive black skin. It will soothe and moisturize sensitive skin, leaving your complexion looking radiant. You will need one peeled cucumber, 1 tsp. of honey, 1 tsp. of brewer's yeast, 1 tsp. of finely powdered oats and 2 tsp. of plain yogurt. Mix the yeast and oats in a small plastic bowl and set aside. Cut the cucumber and place in a food processor until it's liquified, then add the honey and yogurt and continue mixing. Then add the yeast/oats mixture to the cucumber/honey mixture and continue processing until they have all blended well together. To use, apply all over skin and neck and leave on for about 15 minutes.

2. Using household products, make an exfoliating body scrub that's gentle on sensitive black skin. You will need 1/2 cup of sea salt, 1/2 cup of white or brown sugar, orange zest from one orange, 1 cup of olive oil and 1 tsp. of vanilla extract. Zest the orange and chop the zest. Combine the sea salt and sugar and mix together in a plastic bowl. Slowly add the olive oil to the salt/sugar mix, and stir as you add. Add the orange zest and stir; finally, add the vanilla extract and stir. Make sure all of the ingredients have been combined. You can use an electric mixer to whip the scrub until you have a nice paste. Apply all over your body in the bath or shower, focusing on rough spots.

3. Make a soothing aloe vera lotion to calm and relax sensitive skin. You will need 1/4 cup of aloe vera gel, 1/2 tsp. of vitamin E and 1 drop of peppermint essential oil. Combine all the ingredients in a small bowl, mixing well. Refrigerate for about 15 minutes before use for a truly cooling effect. Apply all over the body, particularly on sunburned or tired skin.

4. Make an extremely moisturizing face mask. You will need one avocado, 2 tbsp. of yogurt and 1/2 tbsp. of lemon juice. Mash up the avocado, then add the yogurt and blend well. Finally, add the lemon juice and stir to mix. Apply all over the face and neck for about 20 minutes, then rinse off. The avocado will moisturize your skin, while the acidic lemon juice will destroy bacteria and get rid of any pimples.

5. Make a pore-tightening facial cream. This is a great cream made with everyday household products that will diminish the size of pores, making skin look more even toned. You will need one small egg, 1 tsp. of honey, 1/4 tsp. of apple cider vinegar and 1/2 tsp. of lemon juice. Slightly beat the egg with a whisk in a small bowl. Add the honey, vinegar and lemon juice, and blend well until all of the ingredients have mixed in together. Apply all over the face and neck and leave on for at least 15 minutes. Rinse off with warm water.
