Color Soaps With Turmeric

You can add a bright saffron color to homemade soap by using turmeric powder. The turmeric-infused soap will have antioxidant properties, and will be an effective exfoliant. You can infuse white soap with turmeric powder to change its color and add its benefits to your daily cleaning routine. The procedure is straightforward and is non-toxic, so you don't need protective clothing or gloves. The turmeric powder can be purchased from a homeopathic store as well as from some drugstores.


Instructions


1. Add water to the double boiler. Insert the top section in the boiler. Place the soap base in the top section. Turn the burner to medium." Place the double boiler on the burner. Stir the soap with the spatula every 20 seconds until it has melted, and set the stove on simmer.


2. Pour 16 oz. of castor oil into a pot. Add 16 tsp. of turmeric powder to the castor oil in the pot. Stir the mixture with a kitchen spatula clockwise for one minute.


3. Turn the burner on the stove to "Medium." Place the pot on the stove. Stir the mixture inside the pot with the spatula two clockwise revolutions every two minutes. Continue to do this until you see a yellowish hue.


4. Pour the soap mixture into the glass bowl. Stir the mixture two revolutions clockwise with the spatula. Pour the oil into the glass bowl. Stir the mixture in the bowl clockwise with the spatula for one minute. Turn off all the burners.


5. Stir the mixture in the bowl clockwise until a yellowish hue infuses the soap base. Let the soap base solidify, and then remove the soap base from inside the bowl. Cut the soap base into rounded bars with a dull kitchen knife that is first heated in hot water.


6. Place the turmeric-infused soap that is now a dark yellowish hue in a soap dish in the bathroom.
