Study Abroad Summer Programs For High School Students

Summer study abroad programs expose high school students to different cultures.

Exploring a new culture and learning a second language are among the reasons that a high school student may opt to spend a summer studying abroad. Students can study abroad in a number of countries and live either on a college campus or with a host family. The programs provide students with a chance to experience living independently, as well as academic and cultural enrichment.

Two Worlds United

Two Worlds United summer study abroad programs give high school students the opportunity to spend eight weeks abroad living with a host family. Students need to be at least 14 years old and have a minimum GPA of 2.5. Applicants must complete an interview and submit teacher recommendations as part of the admission process for the summer study abroad program. Foreign language proficiency is not a prerequisite for summer study abroad. However, students who attend a program that includes language courses take a placement course to determine their language level.
