Making your own delicious peanut butter, whether you prefer creamy or chunky, is very simple.
Not only does homemade peanut butter have a fresher, richer taste, it's also healthier. By making your own peanut butter, you can control the amount of salt and oil as well as the type of oil. You can also avoid many of the preservatives and fillers that are often added to peanut butter. The process is also quick and simple; it's easy to whip up a batch of peanut butter whenever you want. Instructions
1. Place peanuts in food processor. Grind a short time on medium speed until they are in small pieces; this should take about 30 seconds, but will vary depending on the type and speed of the food processor.
2. Add oil and a pinch of salt to taste.
3. Grind peanuts, oil and salt together on medium speed until the mixture forms a paste. This will take about 90 seconds.
4. Check the consistency. Grind a short time for chunky peanut butter, longer for smooth peanut butter. Add more oil if your peanut butter is too thick. If it is too chunky, keep grinding, checking every 45 seconds or so, until the peanut butter reaches the desired consistency.
5. Spoon the peanut butter into a clean, airtight container. Choose a container that you can fill as full as possible, leaving little room for air to dry out the peanut butter.
