Instructions
1. WHAT IS IT?
Milled cereal grain, made from wheat germ and the inner parts of wheat kernels. It has a very bland taste, which makes it adaptable to numerous toppings when it is prepared as a hot cereal, the typical preparation. Since it is so finely ground, it cooks quickly, and remains one of the more popular hot cereal choices.
2. WHY EAT IT?
One serving of Cream of Wheat supplies nearly half of the daily value of iron, 20% of the daily value for calcium, and up to 70% when prepared with fat free milk.
3. WHAT'S AVAILABLE?
10 minute, 2 1/2 minute, 1 minute, and instant.
4. COOK IT
1.Bring water and salt to a boil (or if using milk, bring to just a boil).
2.Gradually add Cream of Wheat, stirring constantly with wire whisk until well blended.
3.Return to a boil. Reduce heat to Low; simmer uncovered, 2-1/2 minutes or until thickened, stirring frequently. Cool slightly.
5. KEEP IT SMOOTH
The key is in the mixing. Be sure to add the Cream of Wheat to the boiling water or milk gradually, whisking the entire time until it is well blended and there are no lumps. After returning it to a boil and reducing to a simmer, continue to stir the Cream of Wheat frequently.
6. TOP IT
Brown Sugar, Cinnamon Sugar, Molasses, Maple Syrup, Honey, Nuts, Chocolate Chips, use your imagination!
