International Pastry Schools

Learning to work with pastry requires extensive training, patience and commitment. Making perfect pastry is an art form. Finding a good school with experienced tutors who can take you step-by-step through the learning process is vital in order to gain employment in top-quality restaurants or when starting your own business. Pastry chefs are in demand these days and you can find work in restaurants, hotels, resorts, cruise ships and more.

Ecole Nationale Superieure de la Patisserie

The school, in Yssengeaux, France, offers programs in the art of French pastry for international students. There is an intensive, five-month pastry program taught in English that includes 520 hours working in state-of-the-art pastry laboratories and 40 hours of applied technology. The tutors are all talented chefs and the course includes learning about doughs and batters, cakes, ice cream and sorbet, creams, chocolate, dessert plates, catering, decorations and breads, viennoiserie, hygiene and security. The classes are small, accommodating only 12 people at a time. After the five months' training, you will put your new skills to work through an internship in a restaurant or pastry boutique. The minimum time for the internship is one month. The school offers classes in basic French to help you understand the language on a functional level. The cost for the five-month course, in 2011, was 13,600 Euros, and 14,500 Euros for the October start date.
